- Project Name Quaker Penn Park
- Description Quaker Penn Park, owned by Falls Township, PA, is a public access boat ramp that was constructed in 2010–2011. The project consists of 11 floating dock sections, of which 7 required the installation of nearly 1,500 square feet of composite decking.
- Challenge Falls Township had a budget for the entire project, but being environmentally conscious, also wanted to use sustainable decking. Their concern was for the safety of the boaters using the docks, so they needed to install decking with a hidden fastening system that would eliminate the possibility of catching bare feet on raised screws.
- TimberStrong Solution Special composite decking was proposed and accepted as the decking of choice. Because the material was panelized using the TimberStrong fastening system, attachment to the aluminum frames was made through the fastener, eliminating any attachment through the deck surface. All of the decking was installed by 2 carpenters in one 8-hour shift.
